Typoe Takes Miami Street Art to the Gallery

Miami New Times covers Typoe's first solo show titled "I Want Typoe So Effin Bad" at the Spinello Gallery in the Upper Eastside.

The exhibition features sculptures exploring religion, violence, and relationships, crafted primarily from found objects.

On his effort: "I worked my ass off. I approached the gallery space as a classroom to teach people about my experiences, about who I am."

On separating graffiti from fine art: "I don't like to mix fine art with graffiti. Graffiti belongs on the street."

On religion: "Ever since I was young, every time someone brought up religion, it led to controversy or fighting somehow. To me, organized religion is a big joke."

On community: "When it comes to loving what we do, there are no beefs or differences between us."

The skeleton entrance piece features a bandanna: "The bandanna is to hide its identity. I think it's important when people don't know too much information. Everybody loves a little chase."
