Elevate

Faena Hotel, Miami Beach, FL · 2020

Typoe's first project with the Faena group, curated by Zoe Lukov and Ximena Caminos. Artists were invited to respond to an elevator inside the hotel. The entire interior was covered in iron to magnetize it, then filled with movable magnets of shapes and letters. Visitors can rearrange the pieces, write messages, and leave something behind for future riders. The work transforms one of the most uncomfortable transitional spaces in daily life into something playful and social, where communication with strangers, present and future, becomes the medium itself.
